Jesse Taylor's Compendium of Life…

…at least the parts of it that matter. :)

Back to the basics.

Pouring my thoughts somewhere has always been a constructive pastime, and for once they’re not all dark and depressing… so this could be both entertaining and helpful. Finding time to sit in front of this computer is difficult though. A setback as minor as a power cord is all the excuse I need to say, “F it.” and pick up the e-reader. Technology roles in my life have shifted dramatically post-OCS. My phone is my life line.

Anyway, I’m so backed up on beer and stuff, it would take a solid month to update this thing… so I’ll just cut my loses, jump back in, and see what happens.

I get bored and make new desktop wallpapers for myself.  Usually to self-motivate.  This is the latest one.

Jesse is getting a car? It’s looking that way…

As per tradition of countless naval officers before me… I have been looking into my very own “Ensign-mobile”.  My pick? The Nissan 350z, probably the convertible model.  I’m still rocking my ’99 corolla and I love that thing to death. If it were up to me, and I guess ultimately it is… I’d drive that thing into the ground.  However, I am representing the Navy… and as such, I can’t really be seen driving around a car that my enlisted guys laugh at.  I hear that BMWs are pretty much standard picks for new O1s… but I don’t really care for Beamers, and besides… I’m not really doing this to conform. I do want a new car. I just previously couldn’t justify buying one when my corolla still runs fine.  Now that my post-OCS finances are in order… I can justify buying something like the 350z. The newer 370z would be too far, but the 350z has all of that style while also saying, “I’m not stupid… I’ll buy used.”

I’ve been doing my homework, and it seems like this would be a good fit for me… and I’ll most likely be buying one as soon as I get back on the east coast with all of my stuff.  There’s no way I could fit like 4 sea-bags into that car.  Besides, I don’t plan on getting rid of the corolla.  That thing is my baby.
